Audiosurf
The game that made music fun to play on a pc

Audiosurf is a rhythm game like Guitar Hero...
AND SO MUCH BETTER!!!!

But, before I go in to a big, long rant about how much better this game is compared to other rhythm games, I should probably tell you what it is.

Audiosurf is a game where you surf audio fills. Yep, that's the idea of the game you see you fly a ship on track with three lanis and as you fly along the track you have to grab and avoid these block things that match with the music.

Now the game is cooler then I just described it.\

So, in the game you can pick a lot of different modes and difficulties to play on, personally I think mono is the best. All you have to do is avoid gray blocks and grab the pretty glowing ones, all the other modes are a bunch of different colored blocks and you trying to get combos with each ship having a different abilities like breaking gray blocks or grabbing one block to use for later.
Now the game play isn't the best, all you do is move a ship back and forth to get points, what really makes this game fun is the fact that you play on songs, not just the songs in the game, your songs that you like.
From the title you can guess that you surf on audio and you do, but you get to pick which audio. The way this works is the game opens up your finder and you can look through your iTunes, folders, USB, or CD for music to play, then after you select the song you what to play the game analyzes it and makes a track for you to surf on, and here’s the best part: IT GOES WITH THE MUSIC!
If you’re playing a slow classical song then the level will be slow with deep-colored blocks and a smooth track.
If you play a fast rock song the level will have a lot of blocks going by very fast with bright colors.

This game has done what Guitar Hero could never do, it made it so you can play with your own music and any one can do it. It's not hard at all! All you have to do is move the mouse side to side and if you can’t do that, there’s a freestyle mode were the music plays nonstop and it fly’s the ship for you (this is a great way to play music at parties) and you don't have to buy expensive plastic toys to play it.

But enough of my opinion it's time to be realistic

Now for as original and fun this game is it can get old fast but that all depends on how much you like listening to your music and playing for a high score.
It's pretty forgetful as a game and can be hard to play songs if you don't have them on your pc or if you just listen to the radio.

The game is 9.99 which is a good price since you have to “buy” all your own music but it makes up that for the fact that you play against people who play the same song as you.
Yeah, that's how the high scores work. Say you have a song you like. It's too well known but it's a good song when you play it on audiogram after you finish, the song it gives you your high score and the score board for that song.
And I don't know how but the game can tell what song it is and give you the scores of people who played the song, which is a great fact a lot of people over look.

It's sad how a game that's so original and has mastered the art of connecting you with your music gets over shadowed buy all the games it could be helping. Wouldn’t it be cool if in a racing game I could pick one of my songs and the game would give me the best track and car to drive to it, or if I'm going on a quest for the king in an adventure game I pick the songs I want to hear on the way and the game makes dungeons and enemy’s around the music.

Audiosruf shouldn’t be looked at as just an inventive game but as a tool to help enforce the feeling of control and customization for future games.

All and all, if you like music and need a game to just lay back and relax with then don't pass over this game.
